Today in class we joined the facebook group, Web 2.0 and Schools - Discussions. This will enable us to discuss the book we are reading in this group with not only our classmates, but other associates from all over the country. This is a great way to constructively use a technology that most people think is only for "wasting time." Social networking can be used positively by students for class discussions if the students choose to use it responsibly. I think this is a great example of ISTE-NET standard 4c, which states that teachers should model responsible social interactions relating to the use of technology. By using and having your students responsibly utilize technology that could potentially be used in non-productive ways, we are showing them how to be responsible with technology.
